Racist remarks by Tommy Hilfiger |
| This rumor has been perpetuated by many well-meaning
Internet users for a number of years. It claims that Tommy Hilfiger objected to African-Americans, Hispanics and Asians buying his clothing during an interview on the Oprah Winfrey Show and calls for people to boycott Tommy Hilfiger products. The fact is, however, that Tommy Hilfiger never made such remarks. He never even appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show. This is a good example of how damaging on-line rumors can be. Someone with a grudge against a well-known copany or individual sets it off and there are always enough well-meaning individuals to keep it going in perpetuity. |
